An AI bot for freelance developers that keeps clients and repos in order
Triage issues, run the test suite on a clean machine, check the staging site in a real browser and write the weekly client update.
Freelance developers use BusyBee.Day bots with GitHub to read repositories and triage issues and pull requests, and with the bot computer (Pro and above) to clone a repo, run tests and check a staging site in Chrome. Bots then turn findings into tasks and write the client update in plain language.
Tasks developers hand off
Go through the open issues in the client repo and label the ones that are bugs, with steps to reproduce if they are missing.
Reads the issues through GitHub, asks before it changes labels, and lists the issues still missing steps.
Clone the repo, run the tests and tell me what fails on a clean install.
Uses its computer's terminal, runs the tests and comments with the failing ones and the error output.
Check the checkout flow on staging on a narrow screen.
Opens the site in Chrome on its computer, goes through the flow and reports what breaks, with screenshots.
Write this week's update for the client from the closed tasks.
Writes a short non-technical summary of what shipped, what is next and what needs the client's decision.
What to set up
- Connect GitHub with a fine-grained personal access token that only covers the repositories this client needs.
- Limit the connection to the client's project.
- Keep changes to repositories behind approval; GitHub actions that are not read-only ask first by default.
- Use Cloudflare if you manage the client's DNS or Workers.
