Sprints

Plan work in sprints, with a backlog, a sprint board and honest reports

Turn on sprints in a project and choose how to measure: tasks, points or hours. Drag tasks from the backlog into a sprint, start it, and watch progress and burndown as work gets done. When it ends, unfinished tasks move to the next sprint or the backlog, and the report stays for good.

Quick answer

What is sprints?

A sprint is a fixed period in which a team commits to a set of tasks. It helps a team plan what fits and see, honestly, how much was finished.

How it works

How to run a sprint

From turning them on to the first report.

  1. 1

    Turn on sprints

Open a project's Sprints tab, choose the unit, the length and the first day of a sprint.

  2. 2

    Plan and start

Create a sprint, drag tasks into it from the backlog, and start it when you are ready.

  3. 3

    Complete and learn

Complete the sprint, decide where unfinished tasks go and read the report.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which plans have sprints?

Basic and up. The plan of whoever pays for the project decides, so every member of a paying team has them. Reports stay readable on any plan.

What happens to unfinished tasks?

When you complete a sprint you choose: a new or next sprint, or the backlog. Completing a sprint never completes a task.

Do I have to use story points?

No. You can count tasks, use points with a Fibonacci, linear or T-shirt scale, or use each task's hours.
