Tasks for bots

Assign a task to a bot like you would to a colleague

Pick the bot as the assignee. It reads the task, works on it and comments with the result. You approve it or ask for changes.

Short answer

To give a BusyBee.Day bot work, choose it as the assignee of a task or mention it in a comment. The bot reads the title, description, comments and attachments, does the work, writes the result as a comment and marks the task ready for review. You approve and complete it, or ask for changes.

From task to finished work

  1. 1

    Write the task

A clear title and what done looks like. Attach the files the bot needs.

  2. 2

    Assign the bot

Choose it as the assignee. It starts within moments and the task shows that it is working.

  3. 3

    Answer its questions

If something is unclear, it asks in the task. If it needs your OK for an action, you get an approval card.

  4. 4

    Review the result

Read the comment, then approve and complete, or write what should change and send it back.

Ways to hand over work

Assignee

The bot owns the task until you approve it. Best for work with a clear result.

Mention in a comment

Type @ and the bot's name in a comment. It reads the task and replies in the thread, with your permissions.

From chat

Tell the bot in chat to take something on. It takes the task and works on it.

On a schedule

Recurring work runs on its own at the time you set (Pro and above).

Write tasks bots finish well

  • Say what done looks like: a table with these columns, a 300-word draft, three options.
  • Name the source: the attached brief, the client's website, the document called Pricing.
  • Say what not to do: do not contact anyone, do not change the live site.
  • Keep one result per task. Split bigger jobs into subtasks, or ask the bot to split them.

Questions and answers

How long can a bot work on one task?

Up to 5 minutes per run on Free, 10 on Basic, 30 on Pro, 60 on Team and 120 on Max. Longer jobs can be split into subtasks.

Can I stop a bot mid-task?

Yes. Press Stop on the task. You can also pause all bots in a project at once.

Who is responsible for what the bot did?

You are, the same as with any tool you direct. That is why the result waits for your review and risky actions wait for your OK.
