MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is an open standard for connecting AI agents to tools and data. An app publishes an MCP server that lists what it can do, such as create a task or search pages. Any agent that speaks MCP can then use those tools after you sign in, without a custom integration for each pair of apps.
How MCP works
- 1
A service runs an MCP server
Notion, Stripe, GitHub, Canva and many others publish one.
- 2
You connect it to an agent
Usually by signing in with OAuth, sometimes with a token.
- 3
The agent sees the tools
Each tool has a name, a description and the inputs it needs.
- 4
The agent calls tools
It decides when to use them; good agent apps ask you before tools that change things.
MCP in BusyBee.Day
BusyBee.Day uses MCP in two directions. Its bots connect to other services' MCP servers, such as Notion or GitHub. And BusyBee.Day has its own MCP server, so assistants like Claude or ChatGPT can read and manage your BusyBee.Day tasks.
