Respuesta rápida

¿Qué es databases?

A database in BusyBee.Day is a tabular content type with rows and columns, formulas, and relations. Unlike a task list, it is meant for structured data that does not have a status or due date - records, lookups, and metrics. Unlike a spreadsheet, it has typed fields and can link to tasks and other databases.

Cómo funciona

How to create and use a database in BusyBee.Day

Create a database, define columns, type values, add formulas.

  1. 1

    Create the database

In a project or workspace, add new → Database. Same place you would add a document or whiteboard.

  2. 2

    Define columns

Pick a field type per column - text, number, checkbox, date, select, multi-select, URL, formula.

  3. 3

    Type values

Inline editing with tab / shift+tab / enter. Paste CSV/TSV from Excel or Google Sheets to bulk-import.

  4. 4

    Add formulas

In a formula column, type `=A1*0.21` or `=IF(status="done", 1, 0)`. Standard spreadsheet syntax.

  5. 5

    Link to tasks

A relation column lets you link any row to a task or another database row. Roll up task counts or status.

Casos de uso

¿Quién usa databases?

CRM lite

Contacts, companies, deals as separate databases. Linked relations capture which deal belongs to which contact. Link rows to follow-up tasks.

Inventory & assets

Lab equipment, marketing collateral, hardware leases - rows with serial number, owner, purchase date, value. Formulas calculate depreciation.

Content calendar

Posts as rows with title, channel, status, publish date, owner. Linked to writing tasks. Aggregations count posts per channel.

Metrics tracking

Weekly KPIs as rows - revenue, signups, churn. Formulas compute deltas; charts (coming) visualize trends.

FAQ

Preguntas frecuentes

How is BusyBee.Day Database different from a spreadsheet?

Spreadsheets have untyped cells - a column can mix text and numbers, and formulas operate on any value. BusyBee.Day Database has typed columns: number columns reject text, date columns enforce a date format, select columns offer predefined options. It also supports linked records and integrates with the rest of BusyBee.Day.

Can I import data from Airtable or Notion?

Export the source as CSV, then paste into a BusyBee.Day Database. Field types map directly. A native Airtable/Notion import is on the roadmap.

What formula functions are supported?

Arithmetic operators (+ - * / ^), comparison (= < > <= >= !=), and the common spreadsheet functions: SUM, AVG, MIN, MAX, IF, AND, OR, NOT, COUNT, CONCAT, LEN, LOWER, UPPER, ROUND, NOW.

Can I link a database row to a task?

Yes. A relation field type lets you reference any task or row in another database. Use it for CRM-style "this deal has these tasks" or "this inventory item has these maintenance tasks".

Does a database have board / calendar / gallery views?

No. Those views belong to BusyBee.Day Tasks. The Database content type is intentionally Excel-style only - tabular. If you want board / calendar / gallery, use a project with its 6 views and custom fields.

What plan do I need to use Databases?

Databases are available on the Basic plan ($9/user/mo) and above. The Free plan supports rich text documents only.
